#Zimrant: A Letter To My People of Zimbabwe

A letter to my PEOPLE

1. It is with great pleasure that I write this at a time when the president’s health has once again been under scrutiny. It was widely reported that his excellency left the country under some very unusual circumstances to receive medical treatment in Singapore or as the state controlled media likes to say, ‘he had gone for a routine checkup.’ It is reported that he came back from Singapore, made a brief stop in Zimbabwe before proceeding to Ghana for the independence celebrations. I should state here that my pleasure does not come from some weird celebration of the president’s ailment or relief that he has ‘resurrected’ once again. No! I honestly do not care and I wish to invite others not to care too.

Our passive preoccupation with this man’s health or whereabouts actively takes away from our contribution to heal our nation. Whilst we speculate on when he will finally give in and die, we reduce a whole generation to a bunch of armchair critics whose only contribution to the fate of our country is waiting for a single man to die. Not just a man, but a frail old man who is otherwise impotent if it were not for his occasional speeches punctuated by that infamous little fist in the air. Cont reading
